Sedman HeadshotLocation Lighting for Wedding Photographers
    with Stephen Sedman, M.Photog.Cr., BFA

Have you ever taken a picture, looked at the screen, and just scratched your head wondering, "Why did that happen?" There is no perfect flash system, but if you understand how it works and where it can fail, you will learn to love your flash. You will learn why things happen, and more importantly, how to fix them.

Join Stephen for this live demonstration program as he takes you through demystifying using a single flash accurately and creatively. He will then add two or three more, and it will really start to get interesting. Stephen will talk about manual, auto, and TTL multi flash use. This is a fully interactive program, so feel free to ask questions.

Stephen is owner of Sedman Photography in Hingham, Mass. and has been a professional photographer for over 35 years specializing in weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, senior portraits, children and family portraits, and corporate headshots. Stephen possesses a unique mix of fine art, computer/internet, and photographic experience. Stephen's paintings, sculptures, and photography are in many public and private collections throughout the country. Stephen has won numerous Kodak Gallery awards, Fuji Masterpiece Awards, PPA Loan Collection images, as well as Courts of Honor awards from PPAM and PPANE.

Eric McCallister headshotHands-on with MagMod Flash Modifiers
    presented by Eric McCallister

In 2014 MagMod launched the first products in its expanding line-up of small flash modifiers. They brought to the market products specifically focused towards on-location photographers who valued not only quality but also speed and efficiency. What was born was a system built around magnetic attachment points, allowing photographers to quickly change the character of their lights with tools that fit in their pockets. Today, modifiers range from tiny grids to a two-foot softbox, with more in the works.

Using the MagMod system, Eric McCallister will share some of his experiences and how MagMod has changed the way he shoots for the better. He will offer a handful of example images created using MagMod modifiers, and discuss selecting the right modifier for various shooting situations.

After that, it’s all about hands-on shooting with MagMod! Learn new techniques, ask questions about situations that haven’t gone as planned, etc. If it’s related to flash photography, nothing is off limits! Eric will show you some of his favorite lighting setups.

    Topics include:

    • MagMod flash modifiers and when to use them (MagGrid, MagSnoot, MagSphere, MagBounce, MagGels, MagBox)
    • Review fast and effective lighting techniques that anyone can do
    • Balancing your flash with ambient light
    • More advanced techniques, such as high speed sync, double exposures, prisms and mirrors, and other tools that to impact the look and feel of your images

Eric McCallister is a New Hampshire-based wedding and portrait photographer. He began his photography career shooting rock climbers scaling cliffs throughout the U.S. He has been documenting weddings in New England since 2003, and photographed his first wedding in the Fall of 2008. Ten+ years later, Eric has photographed over 350 weddings, mostly in New England, but as far away as Wyoming, New Orleans, and the Cayman Islands. Eric became a Photographer Ambassador for MagMod in 2015.
