Hands-on with MagMod Flash Modifiers
presented by Eric McCallister
In 2014 MagMod launched the first products in its expanding line-up of small flash modifiers. They brought to the market products specifically focused towards on-location photographers who valued not only quality but also speed and efficiency. What was born was a system built around magnetic attachment points, allowing photographers to quickly change the character of their lights with tools that fit in their pockets. Today, modifiers range from tiny grids to a two-foot softbox, with more in the works.
Using the MagMod system, Eric McCallister will share some of his experiences and how MagMod has changed the way he shoots for the better. He will offer a handful of example images created using MagMod modifiers, and discuss selecting the right modifier for various shooting situations.
After that, it’s all about hands-on shooting with MagMod! Learn new techniques, ask questions about situations that haven’t gone as planned, etc. If it’s related to flash photography, nothing is off limits! Eric will show you some of his favorite lighting setups.
- MagMod flash modifiers and when to use them (MagGrid, MagSnoot, MagSphere, MagBounce, MagGels, MagBox)
- Review fast and effective lighting techniques that anyone can do
- Balancing your flash with ambient light
- More advanced techniques, such as high speed sync, double exposures, prisms and mirrors, and other tools that to impact the look and feel of your images
