The Art and Business of Pet Photography
with Jen Hargrove, M.Photog.Cr., CPP
(www.JenHargrovePhotography.com)
Animals are a huge part of most peoples lives – from the dog of a little girl to the adults who only have 'furry kids’ – and usually are the biggest personality in the family. Yet capturing those personalities is often more difficult than just a click of the shutter.
Jen Hargrove’s photographs are often defined by her simple compositions and authentic moments. Join Jen as she demonstrates how she combines the personalities of her furry clients and image competition into her marketing, why she prefers to photograph animals 'off leash,’ and what products she suggests for the biggest sales.
Jen entered the photography industry in September 2012 and opened her studio in Big Piney, Wyoming in 2014. Jen specializes in pet (mostly dog), high school seniors, and children photography.
Jen has been a member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA) since January 2015 and is also a member of multiple PPA affiliates including Intermountain PPA, Colorado PPA, PhotoPro Network (Kentucky), Texas PPA, and Washington PPA. Jen serves on the Board of Directors of the Intermountain PPA as well as the Colorado PPA.
Jen strongly believes in the importance of continuing education and the role print competition has along with education in growing and evolving as a photographer, as well as a business owner. She also believes that all photographers have a responsibility to help educate other photographers as well as clients.
As a follow-up to this discussion, join Jen for a hands-on, full-day workshop on Thursday, October 3, and get the opportunity to watch and photograph a dog session from beginning to end. Space is limited, so register online today. Cost is $99 for the workshop.
